Day 18 - Lion Brand Yarn Studio Art 11/22/09

Had a lovely pre-Charger game trip to the LBYS with the roomies to pick up some inspiration for new projects, and got to enjoy the current art they have on display.  So cool!  I want to make them for my living room. People craft the coolest things.

Day 17 - Arcade Mitts 11/21/09

Kind of random, but I saw these at Urban Outfitters and they made me smile.  They make me think of things that people create and post on Ravelry, and it cracks me up they are being made more mainstream (and makes me a tiny bit sad as well...) But really, who doesn't love a good videogame inspired knitted item?

Day 16 - Farewell, Honorary Title 11/20/09

The Honorary Title, one of my favorite bands, had their farewell performance tonight.  Luckily, Jarrod Gorbel (who for all intents and purposes is the band) will continue on in a solo career, so not as sad as it could be I guess, but then end of an era nonetheless.

In other news, the fish hat (for which the yarn was purchased last weekend in Wallingford) is well on it's way to done!  What a difference size 8 needles can make!

Day 15 - Surprise Photo 11/19/09

A while back, I made my niece a tic-tac-toe blanket for her birthday.  I know she and my nephew were enjoying it, but as a wonderful surprise today, my sister sent me a picture of them playing with it!  Totally made my day.

Day 14 - How I End My Nights 11/18/09

This is the usual - talking on the phone with Adam while knitting.  It makes me happy.

Day 13 - Woot Off!!! 11/17/09

Woot.com is addicting, and nothing is better than a woot off.  Clearly.

Day 12 - BlackJack the Evil 11/16/09

My friend Masha has a cat named Blackjack, and he's evil.  That's about all there is to know, but you can see the proof in his face.

Day 11 - Tether ball? How do we play that? 11/15/09

Walking the B&B property, we found a home-made tetherball pole and the boys tried to remember how to play.  Poor Jason, Adam has a good foot on him in height and just doesn't play fair.

And the crazy ship-looking house we stumbled upon.  I still don't get it.

Day 10 - Wallingford, CT 11/14/09

Alright, a few extra pictures today cuz there was too much goodness this weekend!

First, a bunch of people on a campus tour of Yale University, wearing none-other than Yale plastic ponchos.

Fall at Yale

And Adam learning to use a drop spindle!

Day 9 - Does life get any better? 11/13/09

Than a bubble bath in this amazing whirlpool tub?  Yay for weekend getaways to a Connecticut B&B!

Day 8 - Yarn Shelves Finally! 11/12/09

I know this picture is terrible (and I'm going to work on improving photo quality in general!) but I can't help post this out of pride alone.  Inspired by Jackie, I felt the need to finally put this paint can idea to use.  I found way-cool slanted shelves, added paint cans and yarn and voila!  A use for my giant bedroom wall.  Still needs some tweaks, but I'm proud of getting them up myself!

Day 7 - Carrot Bunny 11/11/09

Ahh Wednesday date night at Ikea.  Rib dinner and some good laughs, including this bunny in a carrot car, which I decided needed to be positioned on the car tracks.  Oh Ikea and your crazy toys.

Day 6 - Happy Tuesday 11/10/09

Adam, wine and BSG...is there a better way to spend a Tuesday?

Also, I decided it was time to erase the completed part of my to-do school list, as a way of looking forward instead of behind.  Away it goes.  Onward and upward!

Day 5 - Dominos! 11/9/09

I swear my life is about more than food, but this absolutely cracked me up.  I ordered a pizza online from Domino's and they have this online tracker that tells you what phase your pizza is at and who is making it!  Nutso.

Day 4 - Sticky Bun Experiment 11/8/09

Sorry for another food picture, but my weekend was full of studying paper writing, so food becomes a pretty exciting highlight!  Plus stick buns are a family tradition but NYC doesn't sell the right dinner rolls to make them - enter the experiment!  Tried them with Pillsbury flaky biscuits instead to satisfactory results.  At least they looked pretty tasty :)

Day 3 - Grand Army Plaza and Yummy Dinner 11/7/09

So I don't know if this is cheating, but I have two for today:
First the arch at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, where I attempted to go to the public library with the boy, but was sad to discover no open study desks.

But that was ok, because it resulted in turkey burgers from the farmer's market there and a delicious dinner!

Day 2 - Clouds Over Union Square 11/6/09

Little better today.  One of my favorite things about living in NYC, is remembering to look up and constantly being amazed when I do.  I look down when I walk, so looking up is a bit of a rare treat, but it tends to result in things like, Oh hey, there's the Empire State Building, or Whoa, that street is beautiful!  Today was one of those days - running errands around Union Square, and glancing up in time to see beautifully illuminated rain clouds.  Click!

Day 1 - The Office 11/5/09

I know it's a bit of a lame photo, but this episode of The Office made me smile and was a great part of the day.  So here it is:

Again, I'm embarrassed this is day one, but I guess it leaves room for improvement!

Tomorrow, it starts...

Ready, set, pictures!
