Day 56

My squirrel buddy came back to visit again today!

Day 55

Knowing that the move back to California is fast approaching, we're working on our NYC bucket list. First up: 9/11 Memorial. The fountains are open for viewing, but the museum and most of the site is still under construction. The fountains and how the names are organized is really interesting and well done, and humbling to see. I'll include more photos than usual today, including the current state of the new tower.

Day 54

Day 53

Stocking up! One thing about NYC living is the lack of a car makes large grocery purchases complicated. Living here also means only one Trader Joe's Wine Store (something about prohibiting chain liquor stores) which equals limited access to 2-buck Chuck (3 buck here also). We've talked for as long as I can remember about getting a case so we're good to go for a while, but that's not exactly something I'll be able to carry! Luckily Adam and I found ourselves heading home and walking right by the wine store - tada! Finally a case of Chuck made its way home with us!

And we went out to a highly entertaining Russian dinner tonight, complete with crazy decor (pictured), belly dancing (felt inappropriate to photograph) and swans at night (hard to photography well).

Day 52

Adam likes to steal my hand-knit sleeping mask and sport it himself. Good thing he can rock purple with green fur trim (Duc-ken was hanging out too).

Also, my sister sent me this adorable picture of her pets that I had to share - so glad the new cat has been accepted into the family!

Day 51

So I tried to make a tiny knitted duck to make into a keychain for my sister who goes to the University of Oregon (the Ducks!) by modifying a tiny knitted chicken by Anna Hrachovic. Unfortunately I got more of a "duc-ken" according to Adam.

Day 50

So Union Square is an area I frequent - I worked near there for 2 years and when I actually make it out of Brooklyn that is my most common destination in Manhattan and yet at some point a crazy elephant-standing-on-its-trunk-statue went up! Hard to fully capture (hence 2 photos needed) but hilarious!

Day 49

Finally having had some cooler weather, it was time for soup! Yummy veggie and pasta soup - simple but perfect for a winter night.

Day 48

Sadly all that is left of the first snow of the year. We got a couple inches, then it quickly turned to grey slush, then it rained and washed away except for these remnants. I want more!

Today I was struck by how cute my bathroom window is with the brick and surrounding ivy :)

Day 46

Again, not quite the right picture to capture the day, because the evening was spent watching episodes 4-6 of Star Wars - my first time seeing them! I had the company of awesome and knowledgable friends to make it even more fun - pop-up Star Wars of sorts :) But we started off the marathon with a yummy candlelit dinner of salmon, polenta and brussel sprouts.

Day 45

There really should be a better photo for today because we had an awesome day of Price is Right madness! But sometime during the day we took a break for my all-time favorite game Bubble Bobble and that's the photo for today!

Almost a finished sweater!!! My languishing Estelle cardigan is drying then just needs a collar and it will finally be done. Was supposed to be done in October but whatcha going to do?

Not a particularly interesting day I'm afraid, so I thought I'd share the ridiculous flowers I got in Utah. Yes, those are a giraffe print poinsettia and a leopard gerbera daisy. Nope, no explanation.

Meet Squishy. He is my adorable little buddy, made for me by Adam and he is particularly awesome to squish :)

Best. Photo. Ever. I was sitting on the couch crocheting when I heard a noise at the window. It sounded kind of like rain hitting the window AC, but it had stopped raining a couple hours before. I looked out to see if the rain had started again, but to my surprise this little guy popped up!

Again thanks to Adam, our froggie friend keeping him company in CA. I miss them both!

All in a day's work :) I'll have my second sweater of 2012 before you know it!

And I finally got my spinning wheel (Beatrice) back out! Spinning some fun sparkly wool-silk blend I got as a gift from Jen at Stitches Midwest, 2010. About time I used it!

Anniversary weekend date night! Oyster bar to start, then the usual (but fabulous!) Risotteria dinner followed by a surprise tea shop. Happy 3 years (and a little bit) Ad!

My dad sent me this from Sea World (the penguins - my favorite!) where he went to surprise my sister on her last day as a dolphin trainer. Congrats Dani!
